How this site's content is made
Every guide here affects real decisions about homes and money. This page explains who writes it, how it's checked, and when it's updated.
Who writes it
All content is written by Andy Don, a Cape Coral photographer and Hurricane Ian survivor who navigated his own wind and flood claims from first call to final settlement. He is not a licensed public adjuster, attorney, or insurance professional, and the site never presents him as one.
How it's grounded
First-person content is drawn from the author's own documented claim file, policies, proofs of loss, estimates, invoices, and correspondence. Factual and procedural claims cite authoritative sources: the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR), the Florida Department of Financial Services, FEMA, the National Hurricane Center, and the National Insurance Crime Bureau.
Expert review
Articles that make insurance-process claims are reviewed by a licensed Florida insurance professional before publication, and the review is noted on the article with the reviewer's name, license number, and review date. Articles without such a note describe personal experience or cite primary sources directly.
Updates
Florida insurance law changes. Senate Bill 2A (2022) changed post-storm claim strategy materially, and future legislative sessions will change it again. Every article shows its publication date and its last-reviewed date, and the top articles are re-checked against current law and working DBPR links at least annually.
What this site never does
No fear-based marketing. No fabricated reviews or testimonials. No promises about claim outcomes or recovery amounts. No undisclosed paid placement: if a page carries sponsored or affiliate content, it is labeled as such on that page.
